Alfred is currently a member of the Global Container Terminal Expansion Team
that is designing and building a fully automated container terminal over
the existing Rubber Tired Gantry (RTG) Crane Facility. By 2014, the new addition
will
be operated by 20 new Automated Rail Mounted Gantry (ARMG) cranes.
Both Differential Global Position System (DGPS) and Radio Frequency Identification
(RFID) Technology will be deployed to keep track of the container positions
and the container handling equipment as well as other moving assets such
as shuttle trucks, terminal trucks, cassettes, etc.
Navis Sparcs N4 will be the sole terminal operating system to manage this
next generation container terminal in the 21st century.
He was responsible for the system implementation of Navis Sparcs Terminal Operations System in New York Container Terminal, New York, U.S.A. He was also a trainer for all system applications and terminal operations for New York Container Terminal. He graduated from INC College of Merchant Marine Officers in 1969. Upon graduation, he served on various OOL General Cargo as well as Container Ships. He sailed hydrofoils between Hong Kong and Macao for Far East Hydrofoil Company, Hong Kong in 1976-77. He held his Liberian Master License in 1976. Subsequently, he earned his Bachelor Degree of Science in Marine Transportation from State University of New York, Maritime College, U.S.A in 1980 and Master Degree of Science in Transportation Management from his alma mater in 1983. He was the head of China Department in Kerr Steamship Company, New York (a steamship agency for SINOCHART and COSCO) in 1983-87. He joined Sea-Land Service Inc. New Jersey, the largest U.S. Container Ship Company in 1987. Later, he headed up the Employee Safety Program for 18 Sea-Land Terminals in the U.S.A. before he joined New York Container Terminal in 2006. He was the founder and president of zBoa Web Service, LLC. Alfred was born in ZhouShan, ZheJiang, China in 1950 but currently resides in Ledgewood, New Jersey, USA with his wife, Helen and the father of a grown-up son and daughter.
